Re: Check this out
I had seen that before. For some reason it reminds me of a woman's shoe.

Re: Check this out
I'd love to have a velomobile and I like the looks of the Avatar. It sure is a lowcrawler, not sure how well it would do on the rough SoCal streets.
I've been following the Nimbus Kayak velomobile for few years. That's going to have possibilities and no need to go to Europe to fetch one. The prices are such, I'd have to mortgage my kids!! OTOH, maybe that's not such a bad idea!
I think RANS new Trizzard looks promising as a base for a stateside velomobile.

Just one question - how do you BACK UP in one of those?

There is a hole in the bottom, sometimes covered by a door or a lycra cover. You put your feet down and push.

What's that sound that their feet make when they get started: "Guppity, guppity ..." and then a sound like a gunshot.

Easiest is of course using your feet but there is also another possibility.
Some put on assist and if it’s on the wheel some systems are capable of going in reverse.

Re: Check this out
A guy at the Midwest Recumbent Rally had one for sale last year. I test drove it, a trike, and it seemed slow and sluggish to me.

There's a guy in Midland Texas who's making Flevo Alleweders under license. You can buy them as a kit, or he can build it for you. Last I heard, lead times were on the order of 3 months. This beats the 2-3 years lead times on some of the European stuff. Plus you don't have to hassle with shipping and import duty.
