Camping and Triking
How about a Camping and Triking section. We could share campgrounds close to or actually on a bike path or Rail Trail? This was at Topsail Park right along the Bike Path on 30A, also know as the Timpoochee Trail. http://www.discover30a.com/tour/tour.html and http://www.traillink.com/trail/timpoochee-trail.aspx

Re: Camping and Triking
Cool! I'll add some more stuff later on tonight!
Now we need others who know where there are good campgrounds around some of the bike trails to start posting them here. Maybe we'll plan a visit around something found here too!
Thanks Ric!

NICE rig, rydabyk!
Is that a toy hauler so you don't have to park your trikes out in the weather, and they won't be stolen?

No, it's a regular travel trailer, I keep the trikes in the truck.

Re: Camping and Triking
When I can get out of school, I take off to the Withlachoochee trail. I camp at Lake Louisa and get dropped off on it somewhere as my old time partners knock a little dimpled ball around. In the planning stages is a road trip to start near Holden, FL go north to peddle through Citrus Springs and to the northern terminus of the trail. Then I will be heading back trying to beat them to St. Rd. 50 at that rest area. Will try to start around 12 in Holden on a day yet to be scheduled.

So, you'd rather ride than golf?
Which leads to an interesting strategy I might be able to use to get my Catrike 700:
"Honey, I'm thinking of taking up golf. 'Course it would cost tens of thousands of dollars for greens fees, clubs, club membership, etc. Hey, did I tell you I found this trike on sale for less than $2,900?"

cat. Yes to the ride than golf. The band of us, 2 golfers and one rider have on selected weekends have ridden around the state. Usually escape on a Friday and are back at home by nightfall Saturday. Those guys take my RV and drive to a prescribed golf course and I ride in that general direction with the hopes to pass it on the way to the camp ground. They stop and pick me up when they catch me and we to it all again the next day after a snoring good time. Makes for some strange stories of the over night adventures.

Backcountry Trail connects to the campground in Gulf State Park Alabama.
Here are some more pictures of the trail. If anyone is coming this way and is going to stay here, give a shout and Kathy and I will meet you.

Yea, it's really pretty there, and the trails are a blast to ride.
Does the alligator visit your campsite?
Not yet she hasn't, I hope she doesn't either.
