Tandems are a great way to get SWMBO involved, as well. It sort of levels the playing field, if you know what I mean. Sun makes an inexpensive tandem that would probably be easily resold if she doesn't take to it, or, even if she did and the upgrade bug bit.

I represent that remark about wannabe comedians, BTW. Razz

The Tandem Trike is a nice way too go, but watch out for those back seat drivers they can get a little testy on occasion.

I noticed in the Villages II Video that there is even a recumbent tandem trike! Setting aside what the cost would be for a rig like that, that would probably be an excellent way to get my sweetheart back in the saddle.

(chuckle) Yeah, I figured we always get to laughing and joking about stuff, and eventually this thread would get that way even if I didn't put down how seriously important it is to me, up front.

My wife rides a Rocket!!! I know that doesn't sound good Evil or Very Mad. The thing she likes about it is that is was so easy for her to start riding. A few trips around our complex here and she was riding with no problems. She can only ride about 30 miles before she gets tired but she is slowly getting her "bent" muscles.

We've thought about a trike but she is also kinda taken with the LWB bikes too. I think another Stratus is in our pretty near future.

rydabyk:

Has your wife been riding a while? I get the feeling mine is even intimidated by my DF Giant, so that's why I'm thinking a trike.

If a trike catches on with her, I'm thinking my EZ Sport was so easy to get used to that she might give it a shot and then we'll look at SWB's.

Kathy, my wife, has been riding DF's for about 10 years or so. She never really rode all that much though, no more than 500-600 miles a year, she always hurt after riding.

She has only started riding a recumbent this year, but already has over 300 miles on the bike and has yet to complain about any pain. The only thing she has commented on was some muscle soreness after riding 30 plus miles on back to back days.

Notice the recumbent grin Very Happy

Sorry to deceive Bluescat but that was taken down in Key Biscayne. Ft. Walton Beach isn't too bad though.

No hurricanes in the winter. We do get the occasional tornado and thunderstorms with gusts to 50mph are not uncommon. Not trying to scare anyone I've been living here since 1966 -4 years in the Air Force and wouldn't want to live anywhere else.
