Terratrike Crusier Empty Terratrike Crusier

I had intended to buy a Terratrike Crusier next spring. Then I began to hear that the Cruiser might be discontinued, so with the ok of my SO I bought one late last fall. The trike was in stock, and I put about 250 miles on it until the 26" ugrade that I also wanted came in.

For the techies here is a little information. The 26" upgrade raised the seat about one inch and lowered the crank about one inch. Personally I think it is a little better position. It did of course raise the overalll gear inch ratios, but no big deal. You can drop down a gear or two if necessary. It still leaves gears low enough to get up fairly steep hills. Another reason for the upgrade is the fact that it raises the RD up to a little safer location away from curbs etc. The RD and the chain are now further up out of the dirt too. The two extenders that mount the RD and the rear wheel are outstanding machinings. They fit perfectly arount the old drop outs and fasten securly with 3 bolts. The TT rim came with a Schwalbe Marathon 100# tire mounted. The trike rolls and rides a little better with the 26" tire. All in all Im very satisfied with the upgrade. I have installed a rack for my trunk pack, and put SPD pedals on too.

I am well satisfied with the trike, it is really fun to ride. The quality of build seems to be first rate. One of the big things is you can start and stop at will. There is no wobbling, and no clipping in and unclipping when you start and stop. So along with all the advantages of a two wheel bent, it is even more relaxing. I can see why trike sales are booming.

BTW TT did sort of discontinue the Crusier, they combined it with 2 other models into the Tour II. It turned out being a good deal that I bought the trike when I did, as the price went up $100. I might add that on the several cycling forums that I am on, I have heard nothing but good things about TT and their service.

FYI I thot I would post here too that I found a good way to mount a wireless computer. I used a flat handlebar vertical hand grip under the gear shift and brake levers. It sticks out horizonal just above the transmitter and works great. I did shorten the hand grip to just the length needed to mount the computer.
