What Trike Do You Have (Or Want)?
Just curious about what everyone rides (or would ride if they had one)
I have a red Catrike Road, purchased in July of 2008. Not everyone names their trikes but mine is named Red Ryder. I haven't done a lot of customization on it yet, but I've added basics such as a rear rack, trunk bag, computer, an AirZound horn, taillight and a custom flag, so far.

A trike (for me) is way, way in the future. I'm thinking in terms of something like a Catrike
Villager for my wife if she swings toward a trike.
For myself, I am fascinated by the Catrike 700.

I'm leaning towards a TerraTrike Cruiser because of the adjustable seat. I might consider an Action Bent for the same reason.

Re: What Trike Do You Have (Or Want)?
I've got a 2008 Red Catrike Expedition and named it Spookey..... My first flat on this trike came at 381 miles. Serial number on the bike is 381...... I was doing an out and back on the local trail this past winter, and was about at the turn-around point. Look over and my speedo is gone..... I wasn't happy about that. On the turn around I started to do controlled spins grabbing one brake and just slamming it to do spins...... On the last one I got almost a 270 out of the trike and I look down next to the front wheel......... There is the speedo on top of some snow..... Named the trike that day............

Ok, I had to take just a moment to re-read your post. My son is a swimmer and when you said "my speedo was gone" my mind went to an entirely different kind of Speedo...

Re: What Trike Do You Have (Or Want)?
My wife and I have his and hers Catrike Villagers, mine is white and hers is red. Bought them last year from a cycle shop in Bently Alberta (where else would you buy a recumBENT cycle but in BENTly). Thats the nearest shop with a Trike to try, it is only about 600 km away (360 mi).
We tried a variety of other trikes, none we liked as much as the Villager. My wife had to wait for hers to be delivered, they only had one Villager for sale, and their demo model. It took me a bit to get over the sticker shock (I had never spent more than a couple of hundred on a cycle before).
For me, the Villager was the only one I could get into and out of. And Catrike was the only one that would approve the warranty for someone over 300#. My tiny wife had more ease of egress, but after test riding the Villager and a few others, she decided that a Villager was the best. She especially liked the steering control.
We were too novice to worry about things like just one set of gears on the rear only. I have read there is an adaptor you can buy to upgrade to a second set of gears if that becomes an issue for you later.
Due to a misunderstanding my wife ended up with a red one without having to pay the extra $100 for the colour. But we did have to make a return trip to pick hers up, 1000 km round trip uses much more than a 100$ of gas with my gas guzzling hemi truck.
I would recommend this cycle to a) obese people, I can say it can handle people well over 300#. and to b) casual riders who won't worry about setting land speed records, and c) those who treasure each dollar they spend as the others were all significanly more than what we paid.
BUT go to a place where you can Try before you Buy. There was a cycle shop closer to us, but we would have to put in a special order which were were obligated to buy. I would not have known which would work for me without the option to try out several.
There is a collection of our cycle pics in the "Get Bent" collection on my facebook page, just search for David Beale

Hey Patti,
I read my post to my wife, and your reply, she got a big chuckle out of it!... Now to grab my speedo and go for a chilly 36 degree ride...... Ah darn, I did it again.....

Just don't loose it in the snow this time or you'll be setting records Michael Phelps could only dream about!
