I really was expecting to do business with ActionBent, honest I was. I even had the money and everything - then my truck conked, our water heater sprung a leak, and to top it all off I had to have my beloved Basset Hound put to sleep - it's been a tough (and expensive!) February. The bottom line, however, is that for the time being I'm going to have to put any ActionBent purchase on hold. So what I ended up doing was bringing my lil' red no-name to the LBS for a tuneup and a once-over. The shop owner said that for a made-in-Taiwan Internet purchase I actually hadn't done too badly - the components were all good quality stuff, if not absolute top of the line, and he really didn't have to do too much corrective surgery considering the guy who put the thing together (me) was pretty much clueless about the intricacies of bicycle assembly (I got the brake cable noodles backwards - brakes have noodles???). While I was there, I looked over his stock - the shop (in Greenville, SC) is called Tandem, Touring and Recumbents (TTR), so you know what he's got a lot of. Lots of Rans and Bacchetta, Terratrike, Cattrike and Greenspeed (and a beautiful mint-condition Burley Jett Creek that I wish I'd had the $1050 for), as well as some Cycle Genius and Sun. I rode seven or eight bikes while he worked on my lil' red whatever, and ... dare I confess it? I fell in love. Okay, all of you high-tech, high-dollar, century-riding aficionados with different-bike-a-day stables that poor slobs like me can only dream about may prepare yourselves for dismissive guffaws and sneers of scorn, but I fell in love with a $400 EasyRacers SunRay and bought it. Since then I have had two (count 'em, two) days of decent riding weather, and if you check your weather maps my neck of the woods is (at the time of this writing) undergoing a massive snowstorm, so all I can do is wait for the latter part of this week when ol' Mr. Sun will poke his head out from behind the clouds and I can hop on my ... er, new Mr. Sun and start commuting. It's a blast to ride, and even after too many months of slothful inactivity and overeating I was able to make the 12-mile ride to work with ease and in good time. I've ordered some accessories for it, and when they're all attached I'll snap a couple of pictures to post in case anyone is interested.

Always interested in bike porn.

That looks more like a crank forward, which is cool.

Here's the LINKY

If it makes you happy and you ride it, I'm good. It's what makes you happy that matters!

Hey good morning Nightturkey,

I have to tell you about a day when my TE was in the shop, and I had one of my EZ-Sports out for a ride. Now the Sport is just another in the line of bikes built by the company that made your SunRay. Cost wise, the Sport was tons less $'s than the TE. Any how I'm riding along, and really getting into the ride when it hit me.

I have this bike that was much cheaper to buy, but rides just as nice, maybe even better than the Tour Easy..... Then I climbed a hill, and I thought, oh yeah, these bikes are a bit heavier...

I know there is a difference in components, but when any bike is in tune, it shifts flawlessly...... The company that puts out your bike, they make a quality ride. Your going to enjoy that bike, no doubt about it!...... Careful though, this is probably going to be one in a long line of bents to come. I warned ya! cheers

Besides a biker, I am a dog lover....... I'm sorry to hear about your pup....... When we lose a pup, it's a trip for tissues cause we cry a lot, then over to the animal shelter to adopt another pup.......

Turkey, Sorry to hear about your Basset Hound.

We had to put our dog, Dutch, down in January, cancer and other complications. A lady down the street said that her daughter had asked for a puppy for her birthday so she could give it to us. Broke me up all over again. The little girl used to come over and ask if Dutch could come out and play. We really miss that dog and will go to the shelter and get another when we're ready but not right now.

Pete, damn it, I had to reach for the kleenex on this one........ That was the best story I've read on line in a long time..... I'll bet Dutch was great, and your neighbor little girl is just one terrific kid!........

OK, now that I've seen both Dutch and Wilbur, cryed a bit, I've also learned something about myself....... I not only cry when I have a pup die, but when I read about anyone elses pup......... Dutch and Wilbur were both beautiful!.........

Now when my wife comes home in a few minutes, I'll have to explain the red eyes and nose........ I'll have to make up some story, other wise there will be two of us making for the kleenex........

Technically we are WAAAY off topic, but if this is a social club for 'bent riders, then those things that are close to our hearts ought to be included - yes?

Not complaining and I do understand where you are coming from ( it's like loosing a Family member Sad ) but Technically yes it's off topic. However there is the Recumbent Riders Retreat for off topic subjects and Pup photos could be added in or too your Gallery photo's if you wish. But Hey you have have this thread started so carry on, just remember the retreat for the next time.

He looks like a hansome old fella. I noticed that he wasnt all that old. As an old farm boy, I have always had pets, and know how you feel when its time to put them down. A lot of people dont understand, but it seem that I and a lot of others here do.
