A good place to spend a weekend cycling is the Long Leaf Trace in Hattiesburg, Mississippi http://www.longleaftrace.org/ It is a wonderful Rail Trail to ride and there is camping close by http://www.longleaftrace.org/Camping/Camping.html

We always enjoy our trips to the Trace.

This one I will have to keep in mind, my son lives in Columbus Miss. Someday we may be able to cycle this ride, looks like a nice place to be.

I think you and your wife would enjoy it. There is also camping at http://www.stateparks.com/paul_b_johnson.html and it's pretty close too, about a 20-30 minute drive to the Trace. We've stayed here and really like it. Nice large sites along with plenty of solitude. Great place.
