The GAP trail http://www.atatrail.org/index.cfm in Pennsylvania is a wonderful place to ride. If you couple it with the C&O Canal you can ride from Mckeesport, PA to Washington DC on Rail Trails.
It's a great self-contained trip. Numerous campsites along the way and some breathtaking scenery.
