PostSubject: FINALLY MET MY GOAL FOR THE YEAR   Tue Oct 20, 2009 11:59 pm

It was a little cooler than I like to ride today, but I finally reached 2000 miles for the year. I dont think that is too bad for a 71 year old. My RANS Stratus was flawless, and I only had one goathead flat. I caught the goathead before a ride when checking the bike over. Flats at home are a lot nicer than on the road.

So-------how many miles have the rest of you here logged this year?

BTW I met 3 trikes and 2 other bents on the trails today, most ever.

Way to go Richard thumbs up thumbs up thumbs up I hope to make my monthly goal of 400 miles each month. Living in Florida that's a very modest goal, but sorry to say, I have a tendency to wimp out early in the year when it's cold and I fail to meet even that. I usually make up for it the rest of the year but I still get mad at myself for those early lapses.

I really envy people that live in Fla Texas, and maybe Calif that can ride year around. Since I really hate riding if it is below 60, im lucky to have about 5 months of good biking weather here in Nebr.

I don't blame you one bit. When it goes down into the 50's, especially if that is the high temp for the day I rarely ride my bike. Luckily those day are few and far between, maybe a few in January but it usually get up into the 60's most days. The biggest thing in the winter is that d#@n north wind, thats cold!!!

Fifties aren't bad if you dress for it. I whine considerable when it's down in the low forties. What I don't like about wiinter months in California is you never know.... It could be in the fifties one day and in the eighties the next.

I'm such a wimp, if it goes down below 70 I'm breaking out the woolies.

Way to go, Richard! I'm on track to make around 1,500 miles this year. It really wasn't a goal, and several things have gotten in the way of riding as much as I have wanted to (NOT the weather in Phoenix, that has been great). But 1,500 is a heck of a lot better than I did last year: a puny 500 miles or so.

I attribute my increased mileage to Bluetiful, the recumbent just makes me WANT to ride so much more.

Does time on a stationary 'bent exercise bike count towards total mileage? I could almost double my yearly total if that's the case.
