Sometimes, you just need a slap in the face, a boot in the butt, or a rude awakening of some sort to snap you out of a funk. For me, it was riding with recumbent guys that were faster than I am. Yes, yes, I realize there is always going to be somebody faster and being a competitive soul, I look at that person as a target. I am a little disgusted with myself, though, because I knew my training had stagnated.

I'm riding tons and tons, that's not the problem. My weight has stayed the same in ...

It's fairly obvious that when I'm on the smallest chainring and the lowest gear on the derailleur, I'm in "first" gear, and on the biggest chainring and the highest derailleur gear I'm in "24th" gear - but what about all those gears in between? Say I'm in the middle chainring and the third derailleur gear - am I in 6th gear? What does that make the first chainring and 6th derailleur gear? Is there some esoteric, arcane mathematical formula, or is this something we just ...

Several companies offer "semi-recumbent" or "crank forward" bikes as part or all of their line-up. It is said that a semi-recumbent is an attempt to offer some of the best of both worlds - a blend of recumbent and upright riding. I have been to a couple of the websites and gotten some of the catalogs from companies like Rans and Day6, and I was wondering if anyone has any experience with a CF or S-R that they could share? ...and would riding a Rans Zenetik disqualify me ...

I think I am going to have to find a set of fenders for my rans rocket. The water spray mark up the back of my seat is ugly not to mention the dirt slung up on the frame etc.

Question is from looking online I find them from a low of about 15 to a hi of 55 for a set. Why the big difference? Can there be that much difference in quality?

There were so many different brands even that was difficult to chose one.

Anyone have any experience with fender choices?

I wonder if my 11 year old son would start riding with me if I put the conversion on a 20 inch girl's bike frame. It should be low enough to the ground so that in case he does the "Arte Johnson thing" he won't have too far to crash land. If it doesn't work out I can rebuild the mongoose. Any thoughts?

Our local bicycle club does a weekly ride around our town and out to Hangar 24. The idea is to fill growlers, or just share a couple pints among friends. I hadn't been doing this ride because I usually commute on Thursdays. This week, I took it off because I thought I was meeting a friend after work to conduct some business, which fell through.

So, I did the growler ride. Nice, casual pace. There were acouple fixxed gear bikes, a cruiser tandem, a mountain bike, a road bike and myself. ...

Long about 1996 a guy named Karl Abby teamed up with Gardner Martin of Easy Racer fame to make the Super Zzipper fairing. They made it for Fast Freddy Markham, and I'm sure glad they did. Cause now a fairing and my Easy Racer bike go hand in hand...

I was out today riding in the balmy 50 degree morning temp, but I had a strong head wind going out west. It was blowing around 22 to 25 mph.... Now other than not getting the normal speed I would expect for this stretch of road I was riding, I ...
