...as a dumb question, folks are always saying. So, here's my not-dumb question. The hole in my rim was designed for Presta valves, and is too small to accommodate a Schrader valve stem. Would it cause any trouble if I took a drill and verrry carefully drilled out that hole just a teensy-weensy bit so a Schrader valve could fit through it?

Grips on my EZ Sport

I've noticed that the grips on my EZ Sport tend to work their way off the handlebars, so a space appears between the grips and the shifters. It's not a real problem to twist them back up, but I was wondering if anybody else has experienced this and has done anything to solve it.

I've heard that a little hairspray on the handlebars will help the grips to slip back up when it is wet and will help to hold the grips in place after it dries. Anybody have any experience with this?

I just ordered and new Sram x7 derailer for my Rans Stratus. I have a question about the adjustment screw that adjusts the clearance of the upper sprocket. Does anyone have any advice on how to adjust this. Im basically asking what has been your expierence, and why you adjust it the way you do.

I was visiting my daughter out of town and while browsing thru the local farm equipment store ran across something even I could use.

I found some flags that were meant to mount on tractors to warn about slow moving vechicles. Brain in action. Why wouldn't this work on my bike?

I bought it and now have to mount it. I can do it alright but before I start maybe someone else has already done it. If so how about some pictures of how you did it?

Its not a difficult project but if its been ...

I have struggled to come up with a witty way to pose this question so that all you mechanical jeen-yusses won't sneer (too much) at my utter lack of expertise in this area, but all the possible ways I could have posed this question only came up half-witty. So, I'll just put the question out straight and trust the inherent good nature of the folks on this forum. How do you "true" a wheel? The front wheel on my SunRay has started bumping up against one of the brake pads as I ride, ...

When I first bought my recumbent, I resisted buying a mirror because of the geek factor. Didn't want to look like a nerd.

But I recognized that it would a great safety advantage if I could see that guy behind me, eating his hamburger while driving his car and wandering into my lane when he reached for the fries. And since I can't spin my head all the way around backwards a la Linda Blair in The Exorcist, I figured a mirror was the only answer.

I resisted a handlebar mounted mirror, ...

Fender for a P-38

I want to mount fenders on my SWB P-38. The rear wheel presents no problem. However, the front wheel is a different story. It is a 20" 700 x 23 wheel with zero clearance between the tire and the top of the fork. I'm thinking of buying a fender set and cutting the front fender just in front of the attachment to the brake bolt on the fork. I can mount that part to the back of the fork. That would leave with fender protection in the rear of the wheel but the front is another story. I'm ...

I run a mixture of Campy Mirage, Veloce and Centaur stuff on my Cruzbike. It all came off my upright Pinarello that had a ton of miles on it. My own fault for letting them go so long, but I discovered the cones and bearings are really chewed up in my rear (normal front, this is FWD, remember?) hub. I hope I can still get cones. Not anxious to replace the hub, but if I do, you can bet it will be a sealed bearing unit. I'm tired of cup and cone issues. My front wheel (normally rear) appears ...

Having ridden my ICE QNT for just over a week, I'm now in the process of converting it to lefthand use. I'm doing this because I have right-side paralysis and cannot easily or safely use either the right brake or rear gear changer. I contacted ICE and they were extremely helpful with the required parts arriving only a few days later. The brake conversion was straightforward, but the right gear cable was a tad too short! No problem thought me, simply replace the existing cable...Wrong!! My ...
