Said something to a young friend of my older son. I am looking for y-frame discard bikes. WOW did I hit the jack-pot today. While walking out to the garbage cans for them to be taken on a little walk to the curb, I tripped over not 1, not 2, but 3 Y-frames a 26 inch aluminum, 26 inch steel, and a 20 inch steel. Now comes the task. I am going to use the aluminum after I weight it in comparison to my current hard-tail conversion. Should be an easy swap-out but will end up with a little ...

Cruzbike Conversion Kits

The great thing about the Cruzbike conversion kit is it let's you try lots of different frames. Defjack has had his on at least four frames I know of. This is my second frame I've had the kit on. The great thing is, you do no damage to the bike that can't be reversed.

This is a Trek Moutaintrack 220, a kids 24" mountain bike. I put 650c wheels on it and they work great. I still have to resolve a back brake, but the front was easy. This thing screams! We're talking about a really ...

Well as I was puttering around the lot doing figure 8s, wondering to my self when I was going to change the wheels out for the skinny go-fast 26ers that I have left over, I purposed that it would be Friday or Saturday. My own plans for the Assault have been put on hold because of a funeral for a church member, so I figured that by next Monday I would be street legal and ready to shift up to a faster speed and definitely back into longer distances.

I put the conversion on my trainer stand ...

Need Ideas for Chain Retention

I'm looking for some ideas on fabricating something to keep my son's chain from popping off his chainring. He rides a KMX Cyclone which does not have a front derailleur. I had the original front ring replaced last summer in an effort to expand the trike's limited gear range. It didn't work as I'd hoped and now the chain pops off. The chain does not appear to be too loose, but does tend to pop off the ring with annoying regularity. I'm thinking of fabricating something out of a cannibalized front ...

Question for hardtailcruzer re: Cruzbikes

Doug:

As promised, here's a first question about the Cruzbike kit:

I understand that the kit can be put on about any frame which does not have a horizontal top tube, such as a women's frame or one of the newer mountain bike frames. What are the most successful frames that you have worked with and does that include any inexpensive big-box department store types of frames?

Thanks,

BluesCat
