All the proceeds for Miles for Matt are being donated to The Matt Coiro Family Trust Fund. The ride is organized to raise much needed financial support for avid cyclist and kayaker, Matt Coiro. On December 10, 2008, Coiro was commuting on his bicycle when he was thrown from his bicycle after striking an unmarked ledge of a storm drain within the pedestrian/bicycle cross walk. As a result Matt sustained a C5 incomplete spinal cord injury that has left him paralyzed. He is currently receiving treatment at the Shepherd Spine Center in Atlanta, Ga. and is anticipated to return home to Melbourne later this month. There is a ride over in the Gainesville area June 6th. Thinking of taking off late Friday night in the RV. Want to think about hanging the "zoomer" on the back end with my cruzbike? Will have to be back home late Saturday for me to be in church on Sunday. Give it a minute or two thought. (It is in the planning stages, as I have not checked the family calendar.)
