FYI: On Friday, March 13 a group of bents (including CRABS) will ride in Lake Louisa State Park near Clermont (south of Clermont and north of route 192) on Route 27. Come join the ride. Watch for the entrance sign for the park heading north and south on Route 27.

Lake Louisa State Park has a loop of approximately 12 miles on well paved road with little traffic. There are a few hills but nothing that will cause any problems for anyone. It's a fun and safe place to ride. Pedaling will begin at 10:00. Riders can ride the loop or portions of it as often as they wish. There is a nice pavilion where the ride begins should you wish to bring a picnic lunch. If the riders would rather eat together after the ride, there are numerous restaurants on Route 27.

There is a $4.00 per vehicle entrance fee for the park. After entering the main gate, go 1.5 miles to the parking area on the left where the ride will begin. Use this link to learn about the park. http://tinyurl.com/9q49c

Yea, that's a beautiful area. Just to let you know if you ever want to ride that area and your looking for a place to stay I have a home that's five miles from Sugerloaf. I lived there for eleven years and rode that whole area. It's the best riding in Florida.

Yeah, I had the pleasure of Sugarloaf at the Bacchetta rally last fall. I thought I was in N. Carolina for awhile.

Yea it's a good one. I've never done it on the Strada but I've done it on the GTT and the Catrike.

Admin,

Next time I'm over in Ormond Beach, I'll hollar, maybe we can get together for a ride, I come over there on a pretty regular basis. Speaking of that area, is anyone planning on going to Mt. Dora this year?

Just to clear things up, the home I own is five miles from sugerloaf and eleven miles from Mt.Dora however I do not live there full time. I just do weekends occasionally and it's also for sale. I've done Mt.Dora for years, that was one of the reasons for moving there and I expect I'll take a ride over and visit the vendors and some of the restaurants on the Saturday. Walt let me know when your going to be in the area and will see if we can set something up, maybe even Mt.Dora weekend. I'll be riding the Speed and the will be on the Hotmover. Smile

Sounds good. Maybe we (and anyone else on the list that's going to be there) could meet up at the "Coochie Invasion" (I just love that name rolling on the floor)

Admin,

I'm in dire need of some hill training. I've done Sugarloaf and surrounding area once and it KICKED my BUTT! If you know of any good routes to start building, let me know.

Thanks!

The Clermont area is one of the best places I know but it also has some of the worst hills in the area also. I don't know how far you are willing to drive but the San Antonio / Brooksville area is a great place to start, it's the Tampabay Freewheelers ride area and there are a lot of moderate to some bad hills to ride and the traffic isn't to bad, it's all country roads and a pretty area. The area is just West of Dade City. It would be my choice.
If you don't want to drive that far try calling the Mt.Dora Chamber of Commerce and asking them if they have some maps from there Bikefest, they should be able to give you a packet of ride maps that they use for there area with rides like the Thrill Hill or the Buckhill ride or if you want to get real gutsy you could try the Assault on Sugerloaf. They should have about twelve different ride maps you can use. If for some reason they will not give you maps or they don't have any let me know because I have all the maps here and I also have Maps of the San Antonio area should you decide to go there.
