So that's why Phoenix water tastes so nasty, all those recumbent riders falling in! Laughing

Boy, you ain't kiddin' either, garrybuck. You know that "new plastic" taste that you get in a brand new bicycle bottle? pale THAT pleasantly drowns the taste of Phoenix tap water! Found a cure, though: a Brita pitcher.

Here is my current setup:

Frankly the CatEye is a waste; it eats batteries in no time. However the Fenix LD20 is something else. In nearly forty years of cycling I've never owned a light quite like this one! It is extremely bright and I can easily ride at speed down unlit country lanes. This model runs on 2 x AA batteries and when switched to Turbo mode, has a maximum output of 180 lumens for up to two hours! I've fastened it to my ICE QNT using a LockBlocks bicycle mount. I'd recommend the LD20 (actually an updated L2D) to all you commuters and night riders…

That looks like a 'tactical flashlight', so it should be able to take no end of pounding, soaking etc. Does it work with rechargeable AAs?

Should do ~ Quoted burn time is for 2500 mah Ni-mh batteries. It's tough too; the shell is made of T6 aircraft grade aluminium with a hard anodized anti-abrasive coating. Fenix also claim their torch is fully weather sealed, so it should last! We shall see...

I use a similar styled flashlight that came from Lowes called a TaskForce 60x. Less than 30.00. It compliments my D-celled Mag Light. But not as heavy.

I have two bikes with lights mounted
The giro has an old Cygo Lite (water bottle battery) that seems to work fine (need to stop doing these 12 hour shifts Crying or Very sad ) for weekday rides. just watch for the cable or crash
My Roubaix pale has two Cateye el-530 for Rando/ Ultra riding - I may move this over to the Strada- as I'm planning on it becoming the Brevet rig nice bike

I loved my old Cygo Lite, but when the battery bit the dust I couldn't find a replacement.

BluesCat,

Have you tried looking here http://www.instructables.com/id/Universal_bike_light_battery/ to possibly making a battery?

There is all kinds of things I've found on this site.

Interesting, Walt.

Now, I'll have to try to find it out in the shed. That's an adventure that would make Magellan blanch! pale
