PostSubject: Sofrider V1   Wed Feb 04, 2009 11:01 am

I commute also in winter on my Sofrider with winter tires. Yesterday almost home I passed a truck that parked on the road ready to unload with a crane. He was standing on the road and really got a chance to study my Sofrider when I passed him? He starred and followed me I guess he had never seen a Sofrider before? Smile Today we have some more snow it’s about -5° nice riding weather. Cool Many of you live in Florida don’t you like snow? Wink On Sunday I went on long cross country ski trip very good ski conditions this was a 1 ½ hour drive inland where my relatives live. They have more stable winter then we do. Winter is not so bad if you are in good health many people also from Norway travel and stay in a warmer climate in the winter. Smile

When I was a child we lived in New York State. When I was 7 years old my dad showed me how to use a snow shovel. My job was to have the driveway clear when he came home from work. We moved to Florida when I was 11. I realy haven't missed snow since then.

I'm with you, Racer. My wife and I moved to California over 20 years ago. We went back to the midwest for Christmas one year.... It took all of about five minutes to remember why we moved! What a Face

We have had cold weather this week one morning it was -14°C when I rode to work. But the afternoon’s temperatures on my ride home were much better and the sun was shinning! Smile There has been no wind. In the day some of the snow and ice melted but the time I started for home the melted water would start to freeze. Next week we expect mild weather.

You know...... Ordinarily, I'd be rubbing somebody's nose in it just like that. However, this week, we're in the 40's with rain. Sad

Here in Illinois that would be a heat wave Mark. It's 28 degrees here, with wind-chill it's 22 degrees, and we got just about an inch of snow last night...... Sad

The weather has been good this week it seems winter is over?
I took some pictures on my way home from work I wasn’t able to post them here but posted them on my album. The pictures are from a park close to home.

I usually ride my Sofrider to work but have also used my unicycle.
On Monday it wasn’t that warm in the morning but after about 500 meters I was so hot I had to take off my jacket and long pants (I had padded shorts under). The mornings are getting warmer so now I started each morning after that also in shorts and tee shirt in the morning.
There was a funny incident while riding my unicycle on my way home on Monday a racer slowed down when he passed me up a hill and asked if the next thing I planned to do was ride the unicycle from Lindesnes to Nordkapp it’s as far south and north you can get in Norway.
I had some balance problems after that remark but was able to stay on and answer maybe. Very Happy He turned his head looked kind of puzzeled passing me! What a Face
The distance is 2514 km many people have cycled that distance either starting in the north and some in the south. Many cyclists have done this when they had a vacation and camped on their way.
I would never cycle that distance on a unicycle. No That’s what’s so good about a recumbent the seat! Very Happy
Here’s a man that cycled on a bike from 1880 this distance. http://www.ranablad.no/nyheter/article3653845.ece
The brakes weren’t so good on this model so when he was descending bigger hills he had a rope and used branches and small trees as added brakes!
Here is link to these places;
http://www.lindesnesfyr.no/
http://www.nordkapp.no/?language=en&cat=51215
Most of the riders coming against me smile when they meet me on my unicycle.
This morning I also used the unicycle another racer passed me this time without a word and held his thumb up when he passed me. thumbs up
