Are you still a contortionist to this day? laughing

You'd be supprised at how much room there is in a Miata.

Wow, we could be living parallel lives, Pete! At the same time I had the '55 Olds, I also had a '69 Austin Healey Sprite (for those who don't know, the Midget and the Sprite are the same car --- like certain models of Buicks, Pontiacs and Chevys are the same --- just with different grills and badging).

Yeah, and speaking of orchards, I remember driving in from the lake one night in the Sprite with the top down. I passed from an area of open desert into a citrus orchard. Of course the temperature dropped about ten or fifteen degrees.

The dashboard lights just happened to be working that night (electrical in British Leyland cars was by an outfit called Lucas; most owners of MG's and Austin Healey's had another name for Lucas: Prince of Darkness). I glanced over at the front of the t-shirt of the sweet young thing sitting in the passenger's seat and noticed she had gotten ... chilled. I thought briefly about pulling off into the orchard and helping her ... warm up ... but I figured I would wind up in traction. (I also thought about taking the Sprite home and trading it for the Olds, but I didn't think she was drunk enough to fall for the line I would have to use: "Goodness! I think I dropped my watch out of the car when we passed through that orchard! The Sprite's almost out of gas! We need to get my Oldsmobile and go back to search for it!")

(sigh)

BTW, this is why I've always had a special place in my heart for the Meatloaf lyric: "Paradise by the dashboard lights!" Very Happy

To add in to the past, 1963 2-door Chrysler Newport watching the lights across the bay in Summers Point, South New Jersey after a wrestling meet.

I still have a T-shirt that reads: "The English Drink Warm Beer Because They Have Lucas Refrigerators". It’s way too small now but I still get a chuckle out of it.
