A few years ago, when I was driving about 30 minutes to a client's site before 8:00 AM every morning, if I left even 10 minutes later it would add over 15 minutes to the drive time. The cause was, of course, the increase in traffic which occurred the closer you got to the witching hour of 8.
This morning, I took the EZ Sport out for my 8-Mile Morning Constitutional (no more commuting until the daytime highs drop below 110; which is supposedly happening this week so I'm going to keep an eye on it). I had all my chores done early today, so I got out about 10 minutes before I usually do. The bike headlight was actually necessary, I didn't notice less traffic on the road.
I didn't think I was pushing it, but when I got back home and recorded the information off the bike computer I saw that my average speed had shot up almost 1-1/2 mph over what I usually do. The only thing I can attribute it to is that maybe I did not have to slow down as much, or stop, for traffic.
I'm curious as to whether any of you other early morning bike commuters have experienced this same thing.
