Best Line Yet

We've all had people say or ask funny stuff about our bikes. Today, I had a kid ask me a question that takes the cake.

I passed him on his skateboard about 3/4 of a block before the stoplight. I was moving along pretty good, maybe 21-22 mph. I roll up to the stop light and as I'm waiting for it to change, he rolls up and asks me if my bike is street legal!

I had a kid on one of those silly BMX bikes ask if I wanted to sell my bike. Then, he says, "I'll trade you! I'm serious! This is a $300 bike!" I didn't have the heart to say, "Well, kid, if you throw in 7 more of them, you got a deal!"

I was looking thru my Hostel Shoppe catalog at work the other day and one of the guys took a look at some of the MSRPs, gave a whistle and said, "If you're gonna pay that much money, you might as well put a motor on it". Clueless, just clueless.

The question I hear most often, usualy from pre driver's license age teens, is "How much does that cost?"

I get that, too. In some of the 'hoods I go through, you definitely don't want to tell how much, not even close. My pat answer is, "I built it."
