I think as long as you are able to do your own wrenching, they're a good value. If you have to take it to a bike shop for assembly and adjustment, then it's not such a good value because they will charge you handsomely.

Update: I sent ActionBent an e-mail with a couple of questions about their product, and very quickly received a nice, thoughtful, detailed reply. I give ActionBent company full and enthusiastic Thumbs Up for Customer Courtesy and Response.

well... judging from the feedback on eBay it seems pretty good... besides, isn't that what these forums are for, to keep a kind of running commentary on all things recumbent, be they good, bad or indifferent? You may rest assured that if my experience with this company turns out badly I will be courteous, civil, yet highly detailed and unsparing in my comments. So far, however, so good.

I wish you all the Luck in the world. I go along with Mark I think as long as you are able to do your own wrenching, they're a good value and I good introduction into the world of recumbents. There are lots of people that ride and swear by the AB.

I bought an APOYO tadpole trike from Actionbent a year ago. I'm very happy with it. See http://stevebriggs.netfirms.com/apoyo

Cost was $1300. I had some minor hassle with untwisting the chain and aligning it right, on initial assembly out of the box. I'm no mechanic but I figured it out. It seems robust (I'm 240 lbs) and is fun to drive. The derailleurs and brakes required some fine tuning as well, but that's sort of expected. Great value. I put on beefier tires, though.

Welcome to the forum, Dr. Steve! Thanks for your input on the AB topic, I think your comments pretty well mirror what we've been saying. There have been some horrible recumbents introduced into the world and even then, there were enthusiastic owners that were in denial of reality, or just didn't know better. The truth gets around quickly, these days, with the Internet and all the various flavors of forums. AB has been around for awhile and the only negative things I've read are from people that don't have a clue mechanically and have to seek help.
