So that other road users can hopefully see me, I use bright yellow Hi-viz tape on all my machines. I simply cut the tape to 25mm width so that it fits the mudguard (fender) profile better...Does anyone else do the same?

I saw the tape in your photos, I just use lights and a Flag or Flags

Go to our Retail section and it's Devil Womans Flags, just click on the link. They cost $20 and that includes the gizmos to attach it to the pole or you can order the pole along with the flag. He does get noticed. I think you can get them in different colors also.

To tell the truth, I've never felt the need to go to much effort to make myself seen. In my experience, recumbents look so weird, anyway, that we catch the eye of drivers. In fact, on weekend group rides, most of my friends say they feel safer with me in the group because people see me and have a Question moment as they try and figure out what I'm about.

I'm not against flags, or reflective tape.... If it makes you feel more secure and gets you on the bike, that's a good thing. Just don't get to thinking it's a magic shield. You should still ride like you're invisible.

I don't run a flag on my Recumbents but I do feel better with one on the Trikes, it may give me a little edge when riding in town especially in parking lots when I make Grocery Runs.

Some of those ultra bright headlights, get that way because then can concentrate all the light to the front. I saw a rider with a headlight but from the side he was almost invisible as he rode up to a crosswalk.
A little reflective tape would have helped.

True, true... That's why I'm a firm believer in helmet mounted headlights. When I ride, my head is on a swivel and I make sure to look at cars in intersections. That way, they get a face full of HID light and they know I'm there. I have two blinking tail lights. One is underneath the bike and reflects in several different directions. The other is on the back of my helmet.

I'm not disagreeing, BTW, I think some reflective tape certainly could not hurt one bit. I'm just saying that I have taken precautions to be seen.
